Crop Protection Guide 2017 Now Out

Farmers are being reminded to pick up the new 2017 Crop Protection Guide from Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Agriculture.

Brent Flaten the Ministry’s Integrated Pest Management Specialist says the book is a key resource for producers especially when it comes to looking up product information.

"We've got a lot of summary tables of products and specific pests, whether they're wheat diseases or insects, and those tables are at the front of the foliar fungicide and insect control sections," he said.

He says another great tool in the book is a table that lists the pre-seed burn-off products registered for use on specific crops:

"it's a really good, quick reference to see if it's registered prior to a certain crop," he said. "Then you can go to the product pages and get the details as far as what weeds it gets and that sort of thing."

Teachers, check out your AITC Dashboard for Math'd Potatoes, a potato-themed classroom resource to pair with this tour video. Thank you to Peak of the Market and Penner Farm Services for making this event possible.
