CWA's Willmott Named To Canadian Agriculture Hall Of Fame

The man credited with helping turn Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) into one of the biggest and best beef shows on the continent, John Willmott, will be inducted into the Canadian Agriculture Hall of Fame this fall, CWA said in a press release Tuesday.

Willmott has served Canadian agriculture for decades, bringing about changes and advances for nearly 20 different farm organizations, the release said. Willmott was the CWA president in 1978 and 1979, served as a CWA board and committee member for 29 years, and is still active with the CWA as past-president.

Willmott was also involved in establishing Canada’s Farm Progress Show, held in Regina in June, as a premier event for showcasing farm equipment and agricultural technology. He served as an international cattle judge, Angus cattle breeder, and member of 19 agriculture-related organizations.

“We are grateful for all the work John has put into growing CWA and are pleased to see him being recognized for his contributions to the whole agriculture industry,” said CWA president Stewart Stone.
