Faba Bean Feed Benchmark

Prices on feed wheat and barley were stable across the eastern Prairies over the past two weeks but barley rose by $20-25/T in Alberta due to harvest delays.

There continues to be upward price pressure for low vomitoxin supplies, however, and prices in the eastern Prairies will likely increase in the coming weeks as a result.

Corn pricing dropped slightly in Manitoba but remained unchanged in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Corn DDGS prices continued to soften especially in Manitoba and are likely to experience further decreases across the Prairies in the coming weeks due to soft demand relative to supplies.

Soybean meal and canola meal prices remained relatively stable across the Prairies, with canola meal showing some slight increases in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Feed grade peas, lentils and faba beans traded in Alberta at $210/T and $255/T in Manitoba on tightening supplies.

We are taking students out to southern Manitoba to Hespler Farms! Farmer Wayne will teach students how he plants and cares for his potato crop and why potatoes are such a unique crop to grow. Teachers, check out your AITC Dashboard for Math'd Potatoes, a potato-themed classroom resource to pair with this tour video. Thank you to Peak of the Market and Penner Farm Services for making this event possible.
