Hawk Group Places Major Order for Case IH Tractors

Hawk Group, one of the largest construction equipment and agricultural equipment hire companies in the UK, has ordered a further 60 Case IH Maxxum and Puma models to add to its modern hire fleet.

Since commencing operations in the 1960s in the local agricultural and plant markets the Hawk Group has developed into one of the largest construction equipment and agricultural equipment hire companies in the UK, employing over 700 people worldwide and with an annual turnover exceeding £100 million. The business has developed a strong following within the farming sector because it recognises the importance of good service and cost of downtime to its customers. Its hire fleet now consists of 275 tractors and an ongoing renewal programme means that the average age is less than 12 months.

Hawk Group purchased its first Case IH Puma tractor in 2009 and following a successful trial placed an order for another 12 units. This was followed by a further 80 Puma 140, Puma 155, Puma 180 and Puma 210 tractors, including some with options such as front linkages and PTOs to give customers the widestpossible choice. Because these tractors ticked all the boxes in terms of their performance, reliability and comfortable, ergonomic cabs they proved very popular.

Commenting on Hawk Group’s latest investment, Andrew Annandale states:
“Hiring appeals to an increasing number of farmers as it enables them to make maximum use of their capital resources. At a time of increasing financial pressure on the farming industry, hiring tractors for the period that they are actually required therefore makes increasing business sense.

“We hire to farms throughout the UK, from Cornwall to the Scotland. The majority of our customers are located in the main arable areas and come back to us every year. Most will hire tractors from the beginning of July through until September, then after the harvest and autumn drilling period has been completed on those farms these units will be used for haulage work, mainly carting sugar beet and potatoes, in the East of England.

“The tractors we offer are those which our customers have told us that they want. Case IH are very reliable, customers like them and the brand has a very good dealer support network, which is crucial given that we have machines working throughout country. We have been increasing the numbers of Case IH tractors our fleet for the last three years and many go to farms that have not previously experienced the brand.
