Hypor Committed to MAX’ing Capacity

In the coming months, Hypor will be publishing a series of short articles discussing factors that influence total system profitability. The articles extend Hypor’s philosophies and views from experts around the world.

In pork production there has been a lot of focus on single measures of productivity like pigs per sow per year, feed conversion ratio and lean meat percentage. All important metrics and all worthy of consideration but ultimately it’s total system profitability that matters most.  Total system profitability is based on the understanding that everything is related. That performance in one phase has connections upstream and downstream.  That performance, cost and revenue are also all interconnected.

MAX’ing CAPACITY is Hypor’s philosophy linking the factors that influence profitability from breeding to processing. For simplicity, we have broken it down into three main pillars: Weaning Capacity, Finishing Capacity and Meat Capacity.

Weaning Capacity is about weaning efficiently, effectively and reliably so as to maximize the sow unit’s contribution to total system profitability.

Finishing Capacity is about balancing production efficiency with marketing effectiveness in a way that maximizes total system profitability.

Meat Capacity is about balancing cost of production with opportunity for revenue in a way that maximizes total system profitability.
