Manitoba Agriculture Crop Report

  • Above normal temperatures throughout most of the region continue to advance crops. While rain fell in much of the province this week, areas in Central and Western Manitoba would benefit from rain.
  • The majority of acres and crop types are in the flowering and grain fill stages of development.

  • Disease and insect pressure remains low but continues to be monitored as the growing season progresses.

  • In drier areas moisture is needed for pasture and hay crop regrowth.

Video: Follow the Potato Farmer

We are taking students out to southern Manitoba to Hespler Farms! Farmer Wayne will teach students how he plants and cares for his potato crop and why potatoes are such a unique crop to grow. Teachers, check out your AITC Dashboard for Math'd Potatoes, a potato-themed classroom resource to pair with this tour video. Thank you to Peak of the Market and Penner Farm Services for making this event possible.
