Open Farm Day Showcases Manitoba Farms

Manitobans had a chance Sunday to meet their rural neighbours and learn about their farms, products, and the food they produce Forty-four host farms registered for Open Farm Day this year, which is organized by the Manitoba Association of Agricultural Societies.

One of those was Green Pastures Farm, a mixed livestock operation near Gardenton in the southeast portion of the province.

Owner Guy Bouchard explained why they decided to open their doors up to the public.

“For us it's just to market our products so that people can see what we do, and what is available,” he said. “For the customers that we have, it helps to build that relationship between the customer and the farmer.”

Bouchard feels people are looking for a natural option when it comes to purchasing their food.
