Record attendance at 15th London Swine Conference

London ON – The pork industry attended the London Swine Conference(LSC) in record numbers last week. Held on April 1 & 2, at the London Hilton, this was the 15th annual event. With 365 in attendance Wednesday and 240 on Thursday, many attendees commented on the large proportion of primary producers present.

The conference, titled “Production Technologies to Meet Market Demands”, covered topics from global trade and public misconceptions of agriculture to electronic sow feeders, liquid feeding, troubleshooting in the barn and solving health problems with genetics. The

offering of topics continues to blend practical day to day topics with research and broader
industry concerns to offer a broad range of knowledge for attendees.

The LSC has been building on the recent success of a full two day program.  This year, many attendees appreciated the chance for networking with a reception following the sessions on both Wednesday and Thursday.

The planning committee extends their thanks to Premier Sponsors: Agri-Food Management Institute, Total Swine Genetics Inc., Zantingh Direct Inc. and Better Pork Magazine. The support of these and over 30 additional industry sponsors make it possible for LSC to continue as a premier education event for the swine industry in Ontario.

Conference proceedings are available online at www.londonswineconference.ca along with proceedings from all past conferences.

The London Swine Conference began in 2001, and continues as a joint effort of the University of Guelph, Ontario Pork, the Ontario Pork Industry Council and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Its main aim is to provide a forum for the exchange of credible, science-based information for decision makers and influencers in the pork industry, to encourage the exchange and adoption of knowledge for the betterment of the industry
