Regina Food Bank celebrates one year of ag program

The Regina Food Bank is celebrating efforts made to bring agricultural knowledge and skills into the classroom.

The food bank, in partnership with the Mosaic company, created the Urban Agricultural Outreach Project a year ago and had a celebration Friday for it at Miller High School.

CEO of the Food Bank Steve Compton said this program is all about informing kids about the source of their food.

“There’s that piece of taking control of what you eat and where it comes from,” he said. “Also, the understanding of that and from the food bank’s perspective, it’s also that piece of empowering people that you can grow your own food and the things that are right for you.”
