Saskatchewan-Developed Wheat Variety Receives Award

 
A wheat variety developed at the Swift Current Agriculture Canada Research Station has received a major honour.
 
Seed of the Year West has selected Strongfield as the winner in 2016-17.
 
Strongfield was available for the first time as Certified seed in 2006.
 
By 2007, Strongfield was the top durum variety in acres in Western Canada.
 
Up until 2016, it was the number one durum and many new varieties hae Strongfield in their parentage.
 
Seed of the Year West also announced two 4 thousand dollar scholarships to students enrolled in western Canadian plant breeding or genetics.
