Saskatchewan Farm Groups Urge Quick Passage Of Grain Transportation Act

A coalition of Saskatchewan farm groups is seeking quick passage of the new federal grain transportation act after the legislation was introduced last week in Ottawa:

However, farm groups are worried the legislation will not be passed before parliament adjourns for the summer.

Bill Gehl of SaskWheat says farmers need the legislation in place to ensure proper movement of the 2017 crop.

“We have a big crop this fall and we need to have that legislation in place,” said Gehl. “It will help ensure the goods we grow on the prairies can make it to export position”
