Too Much Water Causing Crop Scare For Farmers

Farmers really need some hot, dry windy weather now as they get set to move ahead with the harvest.

Some crop is slowly starting to come off in areas where conditions allow.

G3 Canada’s Weather and Crop Specialist Bruce Burnett says we’re now at a critical stage in the crop in Western Canada.

"Especially in the southern areas where the pulse crops are ready or close to ready to being harvested. Certainly these rains have taken their tole, just in terms of crop diseases as well as delaying harvest here," he said.

Burnett adds crops went from being in excellent condition with a high yield potential to having drowned out areas and increased disease concerns.
