Uniting for a Better Future

A formidable coalition of twenty organizations spanning the agricultural, environmental, forestry, wildlife, nutrition, and hunger sectors has launched a resolute campaign titled "Farm Bill for America's Families: Sustaining Our Future." The coalition's primary objective is to rally support for the swift passage of the 2023 farm bill this year. 

Farm Bill for America's Families brings together a wide range of participants who are aware of the farm bill's profound effects on the welfare of all Americans. The campaign aims to include consumers, decision-makers, and lawmakers while highlighting the farm bill's importance and focusing on five key issues: food security, job development, conservation, risk management, and hunger alleviation.  

The campaign's founding members comprise esteemed organizations such as the American Farm Bureau Federation, Environmental Defense Fund, Feeding America, National Farmers Union, The Nature Conservancy, and many others. These diverse collective underscores the widespread recognition of the farm bill's significance and the need for a united front to drive meaningful change. 

Farm Bill for America's Families firmly believes in the transformative power of the 2023 farm bill to ensure food security for all, foster economic growth and employment, advance conservation efforts, effectively manage risk in agriculture, and combat hunger. These shared goals reflect the diverse needs and aspirations of the nation, reinforcing the interconnectedness of agriculture, the environment, and the well-being of communities. 

Through a collaborative and inclusive approach, the coalition aims to shape policy discussions, influence decision-makers, and raise public awareness about the pivotal role of the farm bill in shaping a sustainable and equitable future. The market was hoping for a US-China trade deal, but we got a trade “truce” for now from the keenly awaited Trump-Xi meeting at the APEC Summit.
China commits to minimum purchase commitments of 12 MMT of U.S. soybeans during the “current season” and a minimum of 25 MMT annually through 2028.
U.S. Treasury Sec Bessent said other Asian countries have agreed to buy additional 19 MMT of US soybean.
Soybean futures trading above $11 now- they normally tend to rally to $12.
As expected, US Fed cuts interest rates by -0.25% again in October to 3.75%–4.00%. No further cuts promised for this year but trade looking out to the Dec FOMC.
The Bank of Canada cut interest rates to 2.25% but raised concern over trade war damage.
Soy meal futures, remarkably, have had 14 consecutive higher close sessions. A bull market in soybeans is a bull market in soy meal!
Cattle futures lower as funds unwind out of cattle for now due to Trump headlines and objective to lower beef prices.
All major stock indices climb to new record highs. It was Mag 7 reporting week, which had mixed results. But we now have the first $5 trillion company in Nvidia!
