Weather Outlook For August 26, 2014

By Paul Knight

More warm, humid air in the short term forecast. Perhaps some of the warmest weather of the summer may occur in September!

A warmer, more humid weather pattern is expected during the next ten days, though it should be interrupted by a cool front in the middle of the holiday weekend. No showers of any consequence are expected through the remainder of the work week as temperatures settle into an above average mode, mostly due to warmer afternoons. A push of rather humid air late Friday and Saturday will set the stage for widespread thundershowers on Sunday afternoon that may linger into Monday in the southern and eastern counties.

However, it will stay rather warm next week, though initially it will be less humid (Tuesday). There is a chance that the warmest weather of the 'summer' may occur during the first half of September. The Tropics will come alive again next week with a storm possibly threatening the Southeast. Early indications point to a notably cooler than average October and a much warmer than normal November.

We are taking students out to southern Manitoba to Hespler Farms! Farmer Wayne will teach students how he plants and cares for his potato crop and why potatoes are such a unique crop to grow. Teachers, check out your AITC Dashboard for Math'd Potatoes, a potato-themed classroom resource to pair with this tour video. Thank you to Peak of the Market and Penner Farm Services for making this event possible.
