Weekly USMEF Audio Report: Producers Get Firsthand Look at Korean Beef, Pork Markets

Each year representatives of some of the U.S. Meat Export Federation's member organizations have an opportunity to observe USMEF marketing efforts for U.S. beef and pork in key international markets. The first stop on this year's program is South Korea, a market that performed extremely well for both beef and pork in 2011 and where a newly ratified free trade agreement strikes an optimistic tone for the future.

Roger Knoblock, a hog producer and cattle feeder from Lester, Iowa, is participating on behalf of the Iowa Corn Promotion Board.

Chris Abbott, a cattle rancher from Cherry County, Neb., is a member of the Nebraska Beef Council board of directors.

Knoblock and Abbott share their thoughts on the importance of international marketing and on the fierce level of competition facing U.S. beef and prok in key Asian markets.

If you have questions or would like a more extensive interview with any of the USMEF Market Education Program participants, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
