Wet Weather Delays Grain Corn Harvest

Wet Weather Delays Grain Corn Harvest

Manitoba's grain corn harvest is getting closer with each passing day.

Pam de Rocquigny is the general manager of the Manitoba Corn Growers Association.

She says the recent wet weather has slowed things down.

"Some of the moistures that are being tested are still above 30, some of them are testing in the higher 20 per cents. Obviously we'd like to see that come down a little bit and of course a lot of it's weather dependent at this point. Over the last few weeks, we haven't had the best weather conditions, just in terms of moisture and helping things mature and dry down."

De Rocquigny says there have been some reports of grain corn being harvested, but she wouldn't say that harvest is fully underway.
