Horse Anatomy 101: What Is The Poll?

The poll of the horse has nothing to do with politics, of course, but with the physical anatomy of the horse.

Basically, the poll is the highest point of the horse’s skull. The poll is the bony projection that appears at the top of the horse’s head, just between (and slightly behind) his ears. The poll is situated above the horse’s crest and aloft of his forehead.
