Audio: Field Pea Variety Selection

Agronomy Update was held in Lethbridge this year, and covered dozens of topics, from nutrients to crops for biodiesel to disease and insect issues. Mark Olson, pulse crops research agrologist with Alberta Agriculture, discussed markets and variety selection for pulses. Olson says when choosing a variety it’s important to look at all the options. He refers to the Agriculture Financial Services Corporation survey of field pea.

To see all the presentations at this year’s Agronomy Update, go to Alberta Agriculture’s website, www.agriculture.alberta.ca and click on the Information tab and then Crops. Look under Quick Links. And I’ll have many more interviews from Agronomy Update on the program.
