Anders grew up on a dairy farm Warrnambool, Australia, where he fed calves and collected wood. He started cooking at the age of 10. By the time he was 17, he started an apprenticeship in Melbourne.

In April 2011, Anders became the head chef at The Farmers Arms in Daylesford.
