Professional and college sports teams employ farm animals as their mascots.
The mascot for the University of Texas Longhorns is Bevo, a 1,700-pound steer. The current mascot is the 15th in the school’s history and every replacement cow takes the name Bevo.
Other U.S. college sports mascots include horses, rams and pigs.
During the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs, the Carolina Hurricanes brought in a 90-pound pig named Hamilton to serve as an honorary mascot.
