An overnight fire at a farm equipment shop in Springwater, Ontario caused an estimated $1 million in damage.

Fire crews were called to Giffen Farm Equipment in Minesing on Ronald Road, near George Johnson Road, around 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

“Upon arrival, crews discovered a fully-involved shed fire, which quickly spread to a machine shop on the property,” the Township of Springwater said in a release. “Crews immediately established a defensive attack and worked on protecting multiple exposures using hydrants and a (seven) tanker shuttle rotation. The fire was brought under control at 8:00 am. Firefighters remain on scene addressing hotspots.”

Approximately 45 firefighters were on hand to battle the blaze.

Springwater Fire and Emergency Services said on its Twitter account that the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in due to the extensive loss.

No injuries have been reported and the cause is still unknown.
