Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H), has unveiled plans to construct a cutting-edge bulk agricultural marine terminal at Picton Terminals. The new facility aims to provide a more efficient delivery system for corn, wheat, and soybean crops, benefiting farmers across eastern Ontario.

The terminal is expected to reduce local farmers' travel time, ease truck traffic on Highway 401, and enhance the efficiency of the agricultural supply chain. With its advanced throughput and rapid turnover capabilities, the facility will bolster P&H's export capacity, which currently serves clients in 24 countries.

Construction of storage silos and receiving buildings is slated to begin this fall, with the terminal projected to be operational by 2026. This project represents a significant investment in the region's agriculture and local economy, promising job creation and economic growth in Prince Edward County.

John Heimbecker, CEO of Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited, says that P&H is dedicated to supporting Canadian agricultural producers, and the addition of Picton Terminals to its supply chain strategy will provide a more cost-effective means for local farmers to reach global markets.

Heimbecker noted that they are partnering with another family-owned business, The Doornekamp Group, to build the facility. P&H’s roots go all the way back to 1909 in agriculture.

Ben Doornekamp, CEO of H. R. Doornekamp Construction Ltd., added, "We are excited to collaborate with Parrish & Heimbecker on this visionary project. As we mark our first decade of operations at Picton Terminals, this development represents a commitment to the future of regional agriculture and the next generation of farmers."
