The guide predicts a warm and wet summer
What’s in store for summer 2026?
For that let’s turn to The Old Farmer’s Almanac and its Canadian summer forecast.
“This summer is expected to trend warmer than normal across much of the country, including southern Quebec, the Prairies, and southern British Columbia,” the guide says.
Ontario is forecasted to experience mixed temperatures.
The almanac’s call for hotter temperatures echoes predictions from earlier in the year.
In January, Environment and Climate Change Canada identified 2026 as a very hot year.
This year “will likely be among the hottest years on record, comparable to 2023 and 2025 and approaching 2024, which remains the warmest year every observed,” the ministry said in a release.
During the summer of 2024, Bathurst, N.B., had the hottest recorded day, reaching 37.6 C on June 19.
In terms of precipitation, levels will depend on the part of the country.
The southern parts of Ontario, the Prairies, and B.C., plus Atlantic Canada, will experience wetter conditions, the almanac says.

In 2024, communities around Toronto, Montreal, and Timmins, experienced record amounts of precipitation, while Victoria and Comox, B.C., and Winnipeg, experienced dry conditions.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac provides a more specific regional breakdown in this table.
