By Amanda Brodhagen, Farms.com

After much speculation if Canada’s seasoned agriculture minister Gerry Ritz would stay on as Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food in Harpers sweeping cabinet shuffle on Monday – Ritz proves his resilience.

Ritz has served as minister of agriculture for six years and led over 30 international trade missions, securing a number of new markets for Canadian farmers and food processors. More recently, Ritz championed market freedom for grain farmers in Western Canada.

Harper introduced eight new faces to his 34 person cabinet.
