Top five skills I learned through 4-H

Organization

Organization

Each year, as a 4-H member, I had to document what I did that year and how my animals did. I needed to update feed information, weight, any vaccines or treatments for ailments like lice, and anything else that may have happened that year. I also recorded what I did with my club. Later in my 4-H days, I served as the secretary for my club, too.

These experiences pretty much forced me to be organized. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to keep a super-organized record book but, if you do, you could win prizes in your age category. I’m a bit competitive, so winning for something that I became pretty good at was definitely something I wanted to do.

Learning organization skills has helped me keep my personal and work life in order over the years. These skills are also helpful for wedding planning, as I later learned.
