As the end of the dairy year marks the mid-point of Alberta Milk’s 2024-26 Strategic Plan, the Board recently met to review progress and identify any amendments or additions for the upcoming 2025-26 dairy year. The Strategic Plan sets the strategic direction for the organization and highlights priorities for the staff to achieve, in addition to regular day-to-day work. The updated Strategic Plan builds on the great progress made in the first year in support of the Board’s four key result areas: Producer Engagement, Collaboration, Provincial Leadership, and Processing and Processor Relationships. Changes for year two of the Strategic Plan include:
- Under the KPI of “Producer Compliance”, the Board amended the target to commit to reaching consensus on an approach to an improved milk quality bonus program in alignment with WMP partners by July 31, 2026. This change reflects the time needed to reach consensus given the different perspectives, structures, and steps needed to effect a harmonized change across the West.
- Under the KPI “Support from Marketing Council”, the timeline for having the P10 Agreement signed by all Alberta Signatories was extended to December 31, 2025, to account for additional time needed to finalize the updated agreement among all partners.
- A new KPI was added called “Working Better Together” to reflect the Board’s commitment to working collaboratively with our regional and national partners, and two targets were included:
- Support the development of a prioritized plan for regional and national collaboration and report on operationalized activities and outcomes by July 31, 2026.
