AAFC releases September principal field crop estimates

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada released its September principal field crop estimates on Sept. 26. 

The production forecast for 2025-26 canola was 20.028 million tonnes. 

Some in the trade believe the crop could exceed 21 million. 

Exports were projected to be seven million tonnes, compared to 9.331 million in 2024-25, while carryout is to be 2.5 million. 

All wheat production was slated at 36.624 million tonnes, with exports at 27 million and carryout at 5.2 million. 

Durum wheat, barley, corn, oats, rye and flax all saw year-by-year production increases, while mixed grains and soybeans were down.
