Ag In The Classroom Releases Report on Canadian Agriculture Education Impact Framework

Agriculture in the Classroom Canada (AITC-C), along with its ten provincial member organizations, has released its Canadian Agriculture Education Impact Framework Report: A National AITC Plan for Action.

The report was presented virtually to over 130 stakeholders from across the nation.

AITC-C consulted with 400 partners across each province over the past year, both in person and online, regarding measuring the impact of agriculture education. The feedback was received from a significant cross section of groups including educators, provincial AITC members, sector funders, farmers and producer organizations as well as government representatives and other public trust organizations. Synthesis facilitated this important work led by AITC-C.

The report outlines how a think, know and feel - themed framework can guide AITC’s successful learning approach taken with students (think), by connecting agriculture concepts to provincial education outcome areas (know), while embracing the important role Canadians can play as a participant in the food system (feel).

This framework will be implemented throughout a student’s K-Grade 12 journey.

“Hundreds of valuable comments and perspectives are represented in the final report.” said Pat Tonn, Chair of AITC-C. “We are proud to present this work and believe that the framework will set a strong foundation for AITC collectively. The implementation of the think, know and feel measurement model is a strategy we can all get behind, as we work towards AITC-C’s vision of agriculture in every classroom, inspiring every student.”
