Arkansas Department of Agriculture Announces Opportunities for Farmers Markets

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the Farmers Market Promotion Program, an initiative made possible through continued support from Farm Credit. Applications will be accepted until available funds are fully awarded.

Through its partnership with Farm Credit, the Department provides funding to help farmers markets expand their reach and strengthen connections within their communities. Eligible promotional activities include:

  • Signage to highlight market names, seasons, operating hours, and locations
  • Local advertising such as print and radio placements
  • Social media campaigns designed to engage consumers and grow market visibility

The Department is also accepting orders for the Farmers Market Bag Program. Sponsored by Farm Credit, the program offers reusable paper shopping bags at a reduced cost to farmers markets statewide.

These programs play a key role in supporting Arkansas farmers markets at a time when interest in locally grown and locally made products continues to rise. In 2025, the Department awarded more than $10,500 to 21 markets through its partnership with Farm Credit, helping markets attract more customers and better serve their communities. To participate in either program, markets must be members of the Arkansas Grown and Arkansas Made branding programs.

To participate in the Farmers Market Promotion Program or order reduced‑cost farmers market bags, markets must apply and place orders online. Learn more about these programs and apply here.
