Canada’s Wheat Crop Rises 18% As Growing Conditions Improve

Canada’s total stock of wheat rose 18% in this year’s first quarter as growing conditions in the prairie provinces improved.

Statistics Canada said that the country’s supply of wheat totaled 13.3 million tonnes as of March 31 this year. Stocks of canola, barley, oats and soybeans also rose in Q1 compared with the same period of 2022.

The increase in field crops came as weather conditions in Western Canada improved and production increased. Statistics Canada also reported better crop yields during Q1.
