CCA Urges Repeal Of COOL In US

Days after the WTO released its fourth and final ruling against Country of Origin Label (COOL); United States legislators put a new bill forward to have the legislation repealed.

Last Week, The U-S House of Representatives' agriculture committee approved the repeal bill with a vote of 38-6, clearing the way for it to come for a vote in the Senate early next month.

"We have met with the senate Ag Committee chairman Pat Roberts from Kansas, and he is supportive of  repeal as well, but understand there are some senators on that committee that are looking at some other options," said Dave Solverson, President of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association.

Timing is significant as Canada prepares to ask the WTO to allow retaliatory measures.
