CSIF report highlights 2013 Iowa livestock trends

Iowa enjoyed growth in both the livestock and poultry sectors and 2013 and an organization that devotes its time and resources to helping the state’s farmers raise livestock responsibly and successfully saw a significant increase in requests for assistance last year.

The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers received 371 new requests for assistance and facilitated 354 requests for continuing support, whether it was answering questions over the phone or providing an on-farm consultation. Overall, CSIF saw a 30 percent increase in in the number of farmers it helped in some fashion.

The coalition was busy providing assistance to livestock and poultry farmers across the state siting new facilities, interpreting rules and regulations, implementing best management practices, enhancing relationships with neighbors and more.

An annual report, highlighting the organization’s work in 2013 is now available.
