A University of Guelph engineering professor has been named the incoming president of the Canadian Society for Bioengineering (CSBE).
Prof. Suresh Neethirajan was selected as CSBE president-elect on Aug. 9. He will serve a one-year term as president beginning July 2018.
An internationally recognized researcher, Neethirajan has received awards from Engineers Canada and the American Society for Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
Using bio-nanotechnology, he has developed biosensors and other tools and techniques for improving agri-food and animal health.
“I am excited to be a part of the CSBE, especially as it works to advance agricultural and biological engineering techniques for the production of food, bioproducts, animal health and bio-energy,” said Neethirajan.
“This ties in well with much of what I and my colleagues are working on at U of G. I see this appointment as an opportunity to highlight U of G’s unique research areas, while building strong connections with the Canadian bioengineering community.”
