What Precision Ag Technologies are Driving Higher Yields at Lower Costs?

Leading Farmers, Agronomist, and Agribusiness Will Gather to Share practical results

Farms.com and a roster of leading precision ag expert speakers are excited to bring the Farms.com Precision Agriculture Conference & Ag Technology Showcase to Saskatoon, October 25, 2017. This event will give farmers the opportunity to learn from one another and industry experts. The event will feature presentations, practical workshops, and tradeshow exhibits from leading precision agribusinesses.  The conference will be valuable to farmers, agronomist and retailers who are interested in precision agriculture technologies.

“Ag Innovation is exploding onto the farm, it’s important to learn from the practical experience of the innovators to hear what is working on the farm and how these technologies are driving productivity and higher yields”, says Joe Dales, Vice President at Farms.com.

Powerful software applications, crop imagery from satellites, and unmanned aerial systems, precision cropping systems, weather tools, robotics and automation are some of the topics that will featured at the conference.

Precision agronomists will share the latest results from the leading-edge technologies they are using on their western Canadian farms. A panel of precision agriculture farmers will also present what they have learned, their successes and challenges.

“With the success and feedback from our 4 previous Precision Ag Conferences, we recognized the demand for this information in western Canada”, says Lindsay Gariepy, Farms.com conference coordinator.  “Farmers and agronomist have flown in from across western Canada to attend the previous events, and told us that a similar event is needed in western Canada, and we decided that Saskatoon was a terrific location.”

“A world class speaker’s agenda is being finalized. Previous events have including leading experts from companies such as Farmers Edge, Bayer CropScience, Deveron UAS, Farm Credit Canada, Agri Trend / Trimble, Climate FieldView, DuPont Pioneer, New Holland, Syngenta and many more. “says Dales.

“If you are thinking about adopting precision agriculture, just beginning with these leading-edge technologies, or have a solid understanding and use of these innovations, this conference is worthwhile attending.”

Video: Season 6, Episode 10: Defining Resiliency and the Research Driving Swine Health Forward

Genetic research and new technologies continue to influence the future of swine health and production efficiency. In this episode, we explore how research and technology are being used to support stronger, more resilient pigs, while also improving overall production outcomes. In this episode, we are joined by Dr. Jenelle Dunkelberger, geneticist with Topigs Norsvin, to discuss both routine and emerging strategies for improving piglet, pig, and sow livability. She outlines two primary approaches to enhancing resiliency: gene editing and traditional selective breeding. Continuing the resiliency conversation, we also hear from Dr. Lucina Galina, director of technical research projects at the Pig Improvement Company. She shares insights into ongoing gene-editing work focused on PRRS, detailing the pathway to success, regulatory and practical considerations, and the questions that still remain as the technology evolves. Together, these conversations provide a closer look at how research, genetics and innovation are shaping the future of swine health and livability.
