Logan County, CO, receives Bioeconomy Development Opportunity status

The Logan County Economic Development Corporation in Colorado, US and Ecostrat have announced the issue of a new Bioeconomy Development Opportunity (BDO) Zone designation for wheat straw.

The Logan County BDO Zone is rated ‘A’, or low risk, based on the reliable generation of biomass and access to larger supply basins at marginal transportation cost increments.

The BDO Zone extends an 80-mile drive distance from Logan County and generates 100,000 oven-dried tonnes per year of wheat straw.
Strong supply chain and logistics components provide substantial support for new bioenergy initiatives.

Video: Our Amazing Grasslands ~ Larry Wagner, Brule County, South Dakota

“Maintaining grass is crucial for building soil health. In the winter, the grass captures snow providing moisture retention. This helps keep the roots alive and growing throughout the year, benefiting the overall microbial activity in the soil. This practice is particularly important, especially in years with challenging weather conditions.” ~Larry Wagner
