Media/public invited to attend Source Local Food Fests during Ontario Agriculture Week

Guelph -  To celebrate Ontario Agriculture Week, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, in partnership with Farm & Food Care Ontario, will be hosting four Source Local Food Fests in communities across the province including Thunder Bay, London, Ottawa and Halton. Each event is being supported by local Federation of Agriculture chapters.

These public events will provide opportunities for urban and suburban Ontarians to talk about food and farming with local Ontario farmers.

Guests in Thunder Bay, London and Ottawa will receive a free lunch and, if they post on social media with their reason for ‘sourcing local’ will be entered into a draw for the chance to win $250 in groceries. Food trucks on site will provide lunch to the first 250 guests who attend.

Guests in Halton will sample local foods, have the chance to see exhibits of farm animals and equipment, take a hay ride and explore the corn maze.

The Ontario Federation of Agriculture and Farm & Food Care Ontario’s Source Local project reminds Ontarians to Source Local when they are shopping for food, fiber and flowers. The project aims to connect Ontarians and showcase the best of Ontario agriculture. Ontario’s 38,000 farming families dedicate their livelihoods to grow and produce over 200 food, fibre, flower and food products that are used by consumers in this province, in Canada and around the world.
