Merit Functional Foods Corp. has broken ground on its new $65 million pea and canola protein production plant located in Winnipeg's Centreport.
The facility, which has now increased to 88,000 square feet, will be located in the BrookPort Business Park. There is room for another 50,000 square foot expansion.
The plant, which will require about 20,000 tonnes of peas and canola, is slated to be completed by the third quarter of next year.
