Spectators, Livestock Flock To Manitoba AG EX

Organizers with this year's Manitoba AG EX were pleased with the 2018 show, with close to 1,300 head of livestock and thousands of visitors coming through the Brandon's Keystone Centre during the four-day event which wrapped up on Saturday.

“Three national breed shows made our cattle show an outstanding success,” said Ron Kristjansson, general manager at the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba. “Selecting the supreme breed champions in the opening ceremony of the Manitoba Finals Rodeo performance was especially fitting and a great tribute to all the hard work the cattle exhibitors put in for this show.”

Manitoba AG EX Co-Chair Dallas Johnson has been involved with this event for a number of years.

"Four or five years ago, this show had 300 head of cattle and now we are hosting close to 800 head...We have exhibitors from Quebec to British Columbia and families we haven’t seen in years; that makes for a really great show.”

Manitoba Superhorse Show and Sale Organizer Julie Bridgman noted that over $30,000.00 in cash and prizes were awarded in the futurity.

Results for the cattle shows and rodeo events are available at www.manitobaagex.com.

Next up for the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba will be the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair, March 25 - 30, 2019.

Shearing Delay Leads To Kingston 4H Sheep Show!

Video: Shearing Delay Leads To Kingston 4H Sheep Show!

What started as a disappointment turned into a day full of surprises, fun, and celebration as we leave Ewetopia Farms behind and head out to the Kingston Fair to watch the 4H sheep show

Today’s vlog was supposed to be another sheep shearing day here at Ewetopia Farms, but when our shearer had to cancel, we suddenly found ourselves with an unexpected free day. Lucky for us, the Kingston Fair was happening — and some of our own sheep (and friends) were competing!

We brought along our shearing helper and headed to the fairgrounds to cheer on the 4H kids and see how our sheep did in the show. From last-minute preparations and sheep showmanship to market lamb competitions and ewe classes, we take you behind the scenes of what it’s really like at a country fair.

We couldn’t be prouder — our girls walked away with wins in both showmanship and breeding ewe classes! Afterwards, we toured the fair, met a beekeeper with fascinating insights, admired other livestock shows, and wrapped up the evening with motocross stunts and a demolition derby!

Sometimes farm life throws curveballs — but today, it gave us the chance to celebrate community, our sheep, and the next generation of shepherds.
