Water, Crops and Soil Health Field Day Set for Sept. 5

All area producers are encouraged to attend the West Central Research, Extension and Education Center's 20th annual Water, Crops and Soil Health Field Day on Thursday, Sept. 5 to learn more about the latest agricultural practices and Nebraska Extension research.

Free of charge, the field day will begin with registration 8:30 a.m. and continue with demonstrations and field tours at WCREEC, 402 W. State Farm Rd., North Platte, Nebraska. 

The keynote speaker for the event will be Dale Strickler, agronomist and author of the books, “The Drought Resilient Farm”, “Managing Pasture”, and “The Complete Guide to Restoring Your Soil”.

Throughout the daylong event, local researchers and experts will discuss weed control, water management, pesticide applications, soil health, carbon markets and other topics. Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience the Natural Resources Conservation Service rainfall simulator to better understand water and its impact.

Interested participants will receive continuing education units from the Certified Crop Advisor Program for learning more about soil health.

Vendors will be available throughout the day to offer information on how they can help grow and improve participants' operations.
