The Vegetable Lamb of Tartary in Central Asia is a zoophyte, or an animal that resembles a plant.
It was believed to grow sheep as its fruit.
The sheep, attached to the plant by an umbilical cord, would graze the land around the plant. The animal and plant’s life would end only when all accessible foliage was gone.
