
In Finnish mythology, Tapio is the god of the forest and his wife, Mieklikki, is the goddess.
Hunters prayed to the pair in hopes of finding lots of game, and farmers worshipped them to help protect livestock.
One such prayer to Tapio is:
Oh Tapio, King of the Forest,
accept these offerings
set on your Table
Take this bread
made from the three ears of rye,
in the dew of your kingdom
Take this holy ale
brewed from the water of your spring
made from the three ears of rye
