Livestock hall of fame welcomes three new members

The N.C. State Fair, a cornerstone event for agriculture in North Carolina, recently added three new members to its Livestock Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony, hosted by Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler on October 27 at the Raleigh State Fairgrounds, highlighted the vital role of agriculture at the fair.

“Agriculture has always been and will forever remain the heart of the N.C. State Fair,” Troxler declared, underscoring the deep connection between the fair and agricultural traditions.

Bryan Blinson, representing Harnett County, was honored in the Commissioner’s Meritorious category for his significant achievements in promoting North Carolina agriculture. From buying his first cow at age six to leading the North Carolina Cattlemen’s Association, Blinson’s commitment has notably advanced the state's agricultural community.

Wayne County’s Mike Sauls received accolades in the Swine category. His over 30 years of dedication at the N.C. State Fair Swine Show have been pivotal in supporting both the event's success and its participants, particularly young exhibitors.

Libby Gorman Williams from Durham County was inducted for her contributions to the Horses category. Having started as a teenage participant at the fair, Williams has grown to be a respected trainer, continuously fostering a passion for horses and the fair among new generations of students.

These inductees have not only enriched the N.C. State Fair but have also played crucial roles in enhancing the agricultural landscape of North Carolina, proving that the spirit of the fair and its commitment to agriculture endures through individuals like them.
