Biden-Harris Administration Launches $262 Million Initiative to Improve Access to Nutritious Food

The Biden-Harris administration is providing $262 million in funding to improve access to nutritious food in the United States. The funding will be distributed through several programs aimed at supporting local food systems and addressing food insecurity.

One of the programs, the Farmers Market Promotion Program, will receive $76 million to help farmers and local food producers expand their businesses and improve access to fresh, healthy food in underserved communities.

Another program, the Regional Food System Partnerships, will receive $72 millions to support collaborative efforts among farmers, food businesses, and other stakeholders to strengthen local food systems.

The funding also includes $50 millions for the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program, which provides funding to organizations that incentivize low-income consumers to purchase healthy foods, and $30 millions for the Food and Agriculture Service Learning Program, which supports efforts to educate young people about agriculture and nutrition while addressing food insecurity in their communities.

Overall, this investment is expected to support local economies, promote healthier eating habits, and increase access to nutritious food for millions of Americans.
