Bioenterprise Launches Canada's Food & Agri-Tech Engine

Bioenterprise is pleased to announce the launch of Canada’s Food& Agri-Tech Engine. The Engine is a national and global partnership/membership network focused on helping businesses connect, innovate and grow. Our membership program brings research institutions, academia, industry mentors, various levels of government, incubators, accelerators and specific service providers to help members scale their business

The Food & Agri-Tech Engine partner network offers intellectual property, regulatory, legal, talent, sales, marketing and other expert services and mentorship. A highly experienced team of professionals can provide feedback and coaching on acquiring public and private funding and investment from a wide variety of sources. In addition, the Engine will provide services such as marketing, human resource management, accounting and many others to help members scale their business

Funding partners, such as Farm Credit Canada and IBM Canada, open doors into innovative new technologies and platforms to further support our members' growth. Bioenterprise officially invites businesses to connect, innovate and grow with our growing network of partners and members.

Evolve with us! From radical shifts in the funding landscape, dynamic new technologies introduced over the last five years, and the world-economy shifting in the midst of COVID-19, Bioenterprise is creating a stronger, more unified system for supporting food and agri-tech businesses. “We were seeing so much duplication, and competition, even among like-minded organizations,” says Dave Smardon, CEO of Bioenterprise, as he reflects on the new direction of the organization, “We realized we could no longer rely on old models of funding, or old methods of supporting our companies. We needed dramatic change, something that could reach from coast to coast. Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine is that answer.

Partners are already joining to provide their support for Access and Access Plus members

Farm Credit Canada (FCC) in particular has pledged to support new offices in critical regions such as Quebec and the Prairies. Their support and industry expertise is a shining example of how collaboration can facilitate sector-wide success and impact

IBM Canada, driving technological excellence with their suite of cloud-based services and expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain technologies

MNP has also joined with ample agriculture experience to offer industry-specific expertise and tax and account services to members of The Engine.

Innovacorp in Atlantic Canada, and the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), are working with Bioenterprise through partnerships and program funding to increase value in those regions. Their partnership will unify the best resources from across the nation to help our members connect, innovate and grow.

A chain harrow is a game changer

Video: A chain harrow is a game changer

Utilizing a rotational grazing method on our farmstead with our sheep helps to let the pasture/paddocks rest. We also just invested in a chain harrow to allow us to drag the paddocks our sheep just left to break up and spread their manure around, dethatch thicker grass areas, and to rough up bare dirt areas to all for a better seed to soil contact if we overseed that paddock. This was our first time really using the chain harrow besides initially testing it out. We are very impressed with the work it did and how and area that was majority dirt, could be roughed up before reseeding.

Did you know we also operate a small business on the homestead. We make homemade, handcrafted soaps, shampoo bars, hair and beard products in addition to offering our pasture raised pork, lamb, and 100% raw honey. You can find out more about our products and ingredients by visiting our website at www.mimiandpoppysplace.com. There you can shop our products and sign up for our monthly newsletter that highlights a soap or ingredient, gives monthly updates about the homestead, and also lists the markets, festivals, and events we’ll be attending that month.
