Canada's Top Auctioneers Competing In Winnipeg

Canada's top livestock auctioneers are competing in Winnipeg today. Scott Anderson is part owner of Winnipeg Livestock Sales, and says they're hosting the Canadian Livestock Auctioneer Championship.

"We're going to have 30 of Canada's top auctioneers all basically in the livestock industry. A lot of the guys are selling cattle two or three times a week. This brings them all into Winnipeg for one day of selling. And they are going to be judged by six people that have been in the industry for a number of years."

Anderson explains the competition's part of a larger event this year.

"It's all in conjunction with the Livestock Marketers Association of Canada with their annual conventions. It brings a lot of the industry leaders into Winnipeg for the weekend. And it not only gives us a chance to showcase a lot of the auctioneers, but to bring people into Winnipeg for a couple of days, and we play host, shake a lot of hands, and share a lot of laughs."
