Cattle prices in Saskatchewan were mixed during the past week

Feeder cattle prices across Saskatchewan were mixed during the past week.
 
Provincial livestock economist Brad Marceniuk says feeder cattle prices ranged from a drop of four dollars to a gain of five dollars per hundredweight.
 
For feeder steers, prices were lower for the weight categories below 700 pounds and higher for weight categories above 700 pounds.
 
Feeder steer prices ranged from 3 dollars 83 cents lower to 3 dollars 33 cents higher.
The biggest gain was in the heavier weight category of 900 pounds and over, up 3 dollars 33 cents.
 
feeder heifers were also mixed, with the biggest gain for lighter weight heifers in the 400 to 500 pound category, rising 5 dollars 50 cents per hundredweight.
 
Marketings were 2,979 head this past week, down from 53 hundred the previous week but up from 26 hundred the same week a year ago.
