Hilton Foods to invest $192 million in Ontario facility

Hilton Foods Canada is investing $192 million to build its first North American food processing and distribution facility in Brantford, Ontario, according to a government-issued press release. The new 230,000-square-foot plant will process protein products including beef, pork, lamb and seafood for distribution across eastern Canada, supporting 150 new good-paying jobs.

The Ontario government is contributing $1.5 million through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund to assist with the project, part of its broader plan to strengthen the province’s economy and food manufacturing industry.

“This investment strengthens our position as a global agri-food manufacturing leader and creates 150 good-paying jobs,” said Trevor Jones, Ontario’s minister of agriculture, food and agribusiness.

Hilton Foods’ regional CEO, Matt Lee, described the project as a long-term commitment to Ontario’s food supply chain, promising innovation, quality and efficiency for Canadian families.

The Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, launched in 2019, supports local businesses with financial and advisory services to boost investment and workforce development in the region.

Will Bouma, MPP for Brantford-Brant, welcomed Hilton Foods’ arrival, highlighting the local workforce’s resilience and the expected economic benefits.

Applications for the next Regional Development funding round opened on June 19, 2025.
