Senator John Hoeven today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has authorized the second round of funding for their high-speed ReConnect Pilot Program. As chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee, the senator secured $1.1 billion across 2018 and 2019 for the ReConnect Program, a rural broadband loan and grant pilot program targeted to areas that currently lack access to quality broadband service.
“We are continuing to develop the infrastructure needed to support high-quality broadband services,” said Hoeven. “This second round of ReConnect funding is an important step toward closing the digital gap in rural communities and keeping innovations moving forward. Adequate connectivity is essential to North Dakota’s growing technology sector and for producers as they utilize precision agriculture technologies.”
The application window to apply for this round of funding will open January 31, 2020 and will close no later than March 16, 2020.
