Ontario Hog Market Strengthens, U.S. Cutout and Futures Follow Uptrend

The Ontario hog market posted continued strength for the week ending June 13, 2025, with prices climbing across the board as demand and futures remained bullish heading into summer.

🐖 Ontario Market Snapshot

  • 100% Base Formula Price surged to $250.59/cwt, up nearly $9.32 from the previous week and well ahead of the same week last year ($227.46).

  • Average carcass value rose to $275.82, with high prices nearing $293.86.

  • Weaned pig values increased to $65.15/head, while feeder pig values climbed to $103.37/head—reflecting both strong futures and demand for restocking.

  • Market hog numbers totaled 108,241, a 1% increase compared to the same week in 2024.

 Canadian Market Highlights

  • Quebec Pool Price rose to $235.64/cwt, while Manitoba’s calculated value hit $249.50.

  • National hog slaughter reached 428,163 head, slightly down from the previous week but still 101% of last year’s levels.

  • The Canadian dollar gained ground, closing at $0.7354 USD, offering modest export competitiveness.
