The University of Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center at Greeneville will hold a Tobacco and Forage Field Day the afternoon of Thursday, July 17, beginning at 3 p.m.
The event, which is free to attend, features subject matter experts from the UT Institute of Agriculture and the University of Kentucky and includes two concurrent tours.
The tobacco tour will explore different aspects of burley production research, including new variety development, topping management, sucker control and managing pasture herbicides. The forage tour will discuss proper calibration of sprayers and grain drills, how to accurately sample forage for testing and how to utilize forage test results when calculating appropriate rations for your cattle. Visitors will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions of the experts.
Each tour will be presented two times throughout the evening. A trade show featuring private vendors and educational and informational displays will also be available for visitors to enjoy.
